Bloomberg: The Lebanese Army’s military intelligence unit said it killed two terrorists over the weekend in a gun battle after it tried to stop them in the eastern part of the country.
The two men were carrying false identification and were killed Aug. 14 in Chtaura in the eastern Bekaa valley, the army said in a statement on its website.
The men, identified as Abdel-Rahman Awad and Ghazi Faisal Abdullah, are militants who were members of Fatah al-Islam, an al-Qaeda inspired group, An-Nahar reported today.
In 2007, the Lebanese Army fought for almost four months against Fatah al-Islam after its militants killed 27 Lebanese soldiers.
