Faced with the threat of computer attacks by the hackers’ group Anonymous following its adoption of a new constitution removing essential “checks and balances” at the beginning of the year,Viktor Orban’s IO: Hungary has turned to Europe. According to information obtained by Intelligence Online, Hungary’s National Security Special Service, the Nemzetbiztonsági SzakSzolgalat(NBSzSz), has asked intelligence services in France, Germany and Britain for help in protecting the country’s computer networks. To date none has responded positively.
In August 2011, Anonymous posted an ultimatum addressed to Orban’s government on YouTube, spreading panic in Budapest. Since then computer security specialists at NBSzSz have been working flat out to repair security weaknesses in the Hungarian computer systems.
