On Thursday spokesman for Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab, Sheik A’Azis Abu Mu’ab issued a statement where he threatened to intensify the attacks against government compounds in Mogadishu in coming days. Abu Mu’ab also warned civilians to keep away from governmental headquarters.
It should be mentioned that the statement was issued less than a day after a suicide attack hit army’s headquarters in Mogadishu killing 4 soldiers and injured another 12. Radio Shabelle reported on its website that on Wednesday morning a man dressed in military uniform attempted to enter the Villa Baidoa military compound. According to the source the attacker intended to target the chief of the compound, General Abdulkarim Yousuf Dhagabadan, but security guards opened fire and killed the attacker before he reached the target. Meanwhile the kamikaze managed to trigger the explosive belt, killing 4 and injuring 12 on the spot.The attack has been immediately claimed by Al-Shabaab.
