AFP News Agency reported that 37 soldiers were arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of being involved in the attempted murder of President Alpha Condé in his residence in Conakry earlier on Tuesday morning.
Most of the detainees are close allies of General Sekouba Konate, who led a transition government, and supporters of the Former Military Junta Chief Moussa Dadis Camara who led the country between 2008 and 2009 after seizing power.
A powerful Colonel nicknamed “de Gaulle” who is also a supporter ofGeneral Konate, was also among the detainees. Another suspect isAlpha Oumar Diallo, the associate of Former Permanent President Lansana Conte. As reported earlier by ESISC, the Chief of Staff of theGuinean army, General Nouhou Thiam that was arrested immediately after the attack is still in the custody.
All the suspects are being held at the national police headquarters inConakry for the moment.

The latest attack indicates that tensions still remain seven months after the first transparent elections.
