Leader of SEGI, a movement closely aligned with ETA, arrested in France

The Spanish Authorities said that one of the presumed leaders of SEGI, a radical youth Basque nationalist movement suspected to be closely connected to ETA, was arrested Thursday. The arrest occurred in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Luzin France and the perpetrator was later handed over to Spanish police.

A similar arrest was made in June when the alleged leader of SEGI, Jon Telleria, was arrested in the town Saint-Pée gala sur Nivelle, France. Telleria was arrested on a warrant made by Spanish police and the French Supreme Court later ruled that he would be deported to Spain where he will be prosecuted for urban violence.

The SEGI movement is banned in Spain but allowed in France.
