Quoting sources of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, media reported on Tuesday that 59 people had died and tens of others were injured in a suicide attack carried early in the morning at a recruitment center for the Iraqi Army at Bab al-Mouazam in the centre of the capital Baghdad.
Reportedly, a suicide bomber detonated his vest packed with explosives after having mingled among the conscripts who were waiting outside the recruitment center. Among the victims, there are mostly recruits, but also several soldiers who had been guarding the place.
This new attack is the worst committed in Iraq since the one from July 18 at Radwaniya, 25 kilometers from Baghdad, when a suicide bomber acted in a similar way, blowing himself up in the middle of a crowd of counter-terrorism militaries who were waiting their pay, killing at least 45.
