Nine killed in clashes between Colombian rebel groups

Colombian officials announced on Wednesday that clashes over a drug route between two leftist guerrilla groups left at least rebels dead in northeast Colombia.

According to police officials, fighters of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and National Liberation Army (ELN), clashed in a remote area of Arauquita municipality in Arauca province on the border with Venezuela. The casualties were from both the sides.

Separately, a police officer was killed and two others were wounded when FARC guerrillas ambushed a patrol in a rural area inCauca province on Tuesday.
