Colombian army commander General Oscar Gonzales announced on Wednesday that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) commander “Mono Jojoy” ordered the execution of 47 guerrillas from FARC’s 7th Front who were in charge of guarding the four hostages rescued by the Colombian army.
According to officials, following the Colombian army’s surprise attack on Sunday 47 guerrillas had fled the jungle camp where they were holding the hostages.
On Tuesday Colombian military forces rescued Colonel William Donato, a fourth army officer, who had been captured by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerrillas 12 years ago. The hostage was rescued in the department of Guaviare on Monday morning. Earlier on Sunday, police general Luis Mendieta, police Sergeant Arbey Delgado and army Colonel Enrique Murillo were freed during a raid in jungles in the south-eastern province of Guaviare.
