Macedonia/Kosovo/Organised crime: Four killed in border shoot-out

A gunbattle between Macedonia’s border police and unidentified gunmen left four people dead in a village close to theMacedonia-Kosovo border, Macedonian security official said on Wednesday.

According to police spokesman Ivo Kotevski, fighting broke out in the area of Radusa village when police tried to stop a van transporting illegal arms across the border from Kosovo. Police returned fire and gunned down four suspected arm traffickers. Numerous arms and ammunitions have been seized from the scene.

The incident comes after Macedonian police seized a cache of arms and ammunition, which included 20 rocket launchers, three mortars, three anti-aircraft guns,  plastic explosives and hundreds of grenades and mines in the sensitive border area with Kosovo, two weeks ago.
