LRA rebels killed 10 and kidnapped dozens in Central African Republic

Ugandan Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels raided the villages of AgoumarMboki 3 and Zemio in the eastern Central African Republic on Saturday, killing at least 10 people and kidnapping 50 others, local officials confirmed on Monday.

Remy Semdoutou, the senior official in the eastern prefecture of Haut Mbomou, stated that the rebels abducted people to use them to transport the goods they looted.

The official also stated that in attack on Mboki 3 village the rebels killed the deputy village leader and abducted four teenage children. It has been also reported that villagers in Agoumar captured one rebel and burned him alive.

Joseph Kony, the LRA leader is in search for crimes against civilians in northern Uganda. The rebel group is blamed for the killings of scores of people in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Southern Sudan.
