On Thursday Belgian police launched a massive operation across the country against banned Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). In this operation at least 30 suspected members of (PKK) were arrested.
Reportedly, around 300 Belgian police officers took part in the operation and raided 25 addresses across the inBrussels, Antwerp, Charleroi, Namur and Verviers as well as the offices of Kurdish television broadcaster ROJin the town of Denderleeuw.
Anadolu news agency reported that former parliamentarian of the pro-Kurdish banned Democracy Party (DEP) Remzi Kartal and his assistant Zubeyr Aydar were also detained during the operation.
However, there were no immediate comments available from the Belgian officials about the raids. Meanwhile, it has been reported that PKK called its supporters to launch a protest in front of ROJ TV offices. The television halted broadcasting soon after the raid.
