3 Turkish soldiers die in blast blamed on PKK

Anatolia news agency reported that three Turkish soldiers were killed and two others wounded in a land mine blast triggered by suspected Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists in the south-eastern province of Hakkari late on Monday.

Reportedly, the mine blast went off while Turkish security forces were conducting a field search near the town of Cukurca in the province’s Hantepe region, which is close to the Iraqi border.Hakkari Governor Muammer Turker confirmed the attack and stated that the wounded soldiers were taken to hospital.

Although the PKK did not claim responsibility for the attack, Ankara launched a large scale ground offensive in order to prevent any new attacks as PKK-assaults tend to increase in springtime.
